What's New at Jones Consulting
The City of Barrie approved Pratt Homes Manhattan development located on the
west side of Ferndale Drive.

In December we will be presenting the County of Essex Official Plan at a
statutory public meeting.
On December 5 we are hosting our 25th Anniversary and Holiday

On December 9th, the City of Barrie General Committee will be
considering approval of the Hewitt’s and Salem Secondary Plans. We
represent the Hewitt’s landowners group.
In November we completed a review of taxi establishments and transportation
services for the Municipality of Leamington.
August 2013 A month of Milestones and
On August 30th we said good bye to John Lackey who retired from Jones
Consulting after a 13 year career. At the same time we were pleased to
announce that Duncan Richardson had ascended to Partner and Engineering
Department Manager. We wish Duncan great success in his new role with the

March 2013 In March the
Township of Muskoka Lakes awarded a contract to The Jones Consulting
Group to prepare their new Comprehensive Zoning By-law.
January 2013 The Jones Consulting Group has been retained by Chimax Inc. to
provide engineering services for four transformer stations in the
Municipality of North Middlesex as part of the NextEra Energy Canada, ULC wind
farm project. The project consists of multiple wind turbines feeding to power
collector stations and to the Ontario hydro grid. The preliminary grading and
stormwater management designs have been completed with construction proposed
for the summer of 2013.
November 2012 We have been retained by the Township of West Lincoln to review
a renewable energy project consisting of 44 large scale wind turbines. We

Jim Parker, P.Eng.
has joined the Jones Consulting Group as a Project Engineer. Jim has 5
years of civil engineering experience in the fields of municipal infrastructure
and land development in the Barrie and GTA. Jim has undertaken project
management, detailed design, construction inspection and contract
administration roles for various large and small scale residential, commercial,
industrial, and institutional site plans, residential and industrial
subdivisions, roadway reconstruction, stormwater management, group cost sharing
and flood line analysis projects. Jim received his Bachelor of Engineering with
a Concentration in Management from Carleton University, and previously worked
for Exp Services Inc. and Masongsong Associates Engineering Ltd. before joining
us in September of this year.

and surrounding area including 8 years experience as an AutoCAD designer
specializing in Land Development, 4 years as a field engineer on all phases of
road and underground utility construction, experience in topographical and
engineering surveying, municipal engineering design and construction,
construction supervision and layout, cost estimating, contract preparation and
administration. Jen previously worked for RJ Burnside in
Orangeville and Exp Services Inc, in Barrie, before joining us in September of
August 2012. We completed the
Community Improvement Plan for the Municipality of Leamington.
We’re excited to announce the
addition of Duncan Richardson, P.Eng to The Jones Consulting Group
Inc. [TJCG] as a Senior Engineer. He joins us with more than 10yrs of
Civil Engineering experience in the Barrie and Surrounding
Duncan’s experience includes
municipal land development, road reconstruction/ servicing design, contract
administration, design and project management of commercial, industrial,
institutional, and residential site plans and subdivisions, as well as Solar
Plant and Hydro Substation developments.
Duncan received his Bachelor of
Science in Civil Engineering from Queen’s University, and previously worked for
G.M. Sernas Associates in Whitby, and Exp Services Inc. in Barrie, before
joining us in August of this year.
June 2012. To date the month of
June has been busy. We have been retained by the Town of Caledon to
prepare the Sandhill Land Use Plan. We've obtained the
final approval for a mixed use development on Big Bay Point Road in
Barrie. Ray Duhamel, one of our partners, received a Volunteer
Service Award from the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration for his
work with the Barrie Public Library.
In May the Jones Consulting Group prepared the
Background Report for the County of Essex Official Plan and also prepared
the Leamington Community Improvement Plan.
April 2012. In April we were retained by the Southgate Public Interest Research
2012. In March we were active on OMB files in the
Town of Wasaga Beach, The Township of Tiny, and the Township of
Southgate. We have been retained by The Township of Georgian Bay to
represent them in Board Hearings in April.
February 2012. We have
submitted applications to permit a 28 unit residential development in the
City of Orillia , a 269 unit development on Ferndale Drive in the City of
Barrie , a 413 unit medium and high density development on Essa Road in the
City of Barrie . In addition we have been retained to review a high density
development proposal on Yonge Street in Newmarket, to work on a 35 acre
property in the Ardagh Planning Area of Barrie and to work on a commercial site
on Anne Street in Barrie.
Pleased to Announce A New Planner has Joined our Team. Lorelie Spencer, MCIP, RPP, joined our firm on January 17th as
a Senior Planner. Lorelie previously worked for the Municipality of Grey
Highlands and prior to that, The Town of The Blue
December the Jones Consulting Engineering Department were proud to
participate in the CPR Holiday Train event in Vaughan and the local fund
raiser for their Food Bank.
In December we sent out our semi-annual client
survey as part of our commitment to quality assurance and continual
improvement. The Jones Consulting Group values the comments from our clients
and we want to thank everyone who returned their survey. Each client who
returned their survey with a business card was entered into a draw and we were

On December 1, 2011 The Jones Consulting Group held a cocktail
Party to thank our many clients for a great year. The event was held at the
Flying Monkey Brewery in Barrie and we were very pleased with the
turnout. A good time was had by all.

In August, The Jones Consulting Group submitted an
application on behalf of Fernbrook Developments proposing Barrie's first
suburban mixed use development. The project includes ground floor commercial
and two storeys of residences above.

Brandi L. Clement, Partner has won a member service
award for the 2011 Planning Excellence service awards through the Ontario
Professional Planners Institute.

Little Lake Seniors Community The Jones Consulting
Group is working on the Little Lake Seniors Community as a proposed
multi-faceted development offering our aging population state of the art living
environments focused on healthy, active lifestyles. The completed
development will offer Seniors completely independent living in both ownership
and rental housing tenure, as well as varying levels of supervised
living. The development will feature common space areas for activities
and entertainment, as well as medical offices and associated services offering
residents specialized care and healthy living assistance. Through a
future association with the Local Hospital, the Little Lake Seniors Community
will provide care and accommodation for those convalescing or recuperating from
