Status of Policy Updates in Simcoe County
Simcoe County is currently in the process of undertaking a Municipal Comprehensive Review (MCR) of their Official Plan. An Official Plan is a guiding visioning document that sets out where and how to grow. An MCR is an exercise to ensure the Official Plan of an upper tier municipality comprehensively applies the policies and schedules of all Provincial Plans, as per Section 26 of the Planning Act.
Local municipalities are required to update their Official Plans to bring them into conformity with the upper-tier Official Plan. As such, the various member municipalities of Simcoe County are in the process of updating their policy documents. Below we have identified the most recent or upcoming milestone in the Policy Update process for various municipalities within the County.
