Proposed Changes to the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2017
On January 15, 2019 an Amendment was proposed to the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2017. The changes are proposed in tandem with the new proposed Open for Business legislation and are intended to address implementation challenges with the Plan. The objective is to speed up development and increase the supply of housing and jobs as the population and economy of the Greater Golden Horseshoe evolves. In essence, the proposed changes would increase housing supply, ensure a faster process for building transit areas, attracting investment, creating and maintaining jobs, and making growth planning easier for rural communities.
The details of the proposed changes are available on the Environmental Registry of Ontario website. The Province is seeking feedback on the proposed changes and has initiated a 44 day comment period. Public consultation began on January 15, 2019 and will continue until February 28, 2019 at 11:59 p.m.
