Second Suites

May 2015 Barrie City Council gave approval to allow second suites within the City of Barrie, with the exception of the Georgian College area where second suites will not be permitted or grandfathered. Second suites will improve the rental stock and housing affordability in the city. Provisions of the second suites approval include one suite per lot, one parking space per unit, maximum of 2 bedrooms, no maximum size, none in the Georgian College area.

Respectively the Official Plan and Zoning By-Law will be revised to reflect the approval and the latter provisions.
